The Xentara licence server looks for licence files inside the normal Xentara licence server configuration directories. The licence files are read from in a subdirectory named licence underneath each configuration directory.
By default, the following locations are tried, in order:
Linux:
- ${HOME}/.config/xentara-licence-server/licence
- /etc/xdg/xentara-licence-server/licence
Windows:
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\Xentara Licence Server\Config\licence
- %ProgramData%\Xentara Licence Server\Config\licence
You can specify additional search directories using the command line option --licence-dir (Linux) or -LicenceDir (Windows). These directories will be used as-is, without appending a subdirectory licence.
You can also specify individual additional licence files using the command line option --licence (Linux) or -Licence (Windows). You can specify as many additional directories as you want by repeating this option.
- Attention
- The Xentara licence server will only ever use the first server Licence it finds, regardless of whether it is valid or not. If a directory contains an invalid server licence, Xentara will not go on to look for valid server licences is other directories. Similarily, if one of the files specified using --licence or -Licence contains an invalid licence, licences inside the configuration directories will be ignored.
- Note
- Configuration paths specified using the command line option --config-dir (Linux) or -ConfigDir (Windows), or the environment variables XDG_CONFIG_HOME and XDG_CONFIG_DIRS (Linux only), as described in Standard Configuration Directories, are also searched. These directories are treated the same way as the regular configuration directories, meaning that the licence files must be in a subdirectory named licence.
