Normally, Xentara should run as a background service that is started automatically when the system boots up. Under Linux, the Xentara package contains a service unit files for the systemd service manager. Under Windows, Xentara includes a Windows service that can be used to start Xentara at system start.

The Xentara service is not started automatically by default. After installing Xentara, you must manually enable the service to run if you which to use it. Make sure that you have properly configured Xentara and installed a valid licence before starting the service, or it will terminate with an error.

If you are using floating licences, the Xentara licence proxy also needs to be run as a service. An appropriate systemd unit file (Linux) or Windows service (Windows) is included in the Xentara installation alongside the Xentara service. The Xentara licence proxy service needs to be manually enabled, just like the Xentara service.
