5.2.3 User Authentication in OPC 10000-2: UA Part 2: Security at https://reference.opcfoundation.org

Xentara supports classic username/password authentication, for use in communication protocols like OPC UA or HTTP. Username/password authentication uses locally defined users and passwords. This has the disadvantage that the user configuration and password files must be maintained locally on the computer running Xentara. For this reason, OAuth 2.0 authorization or Certificate-Based Authentication should generally be preferred.

The user configuration is loaded from the Xentara user configuration file, and the passwords are loaded from the Xentara password file. You can manage user passwords using the Xentara password tool. The Xentara password tool is suitable for use by humans, as well as in scripts or other applications.
