The Xentara Licence Server v1.0
User Manual
|
Each floating licence server can manage floating licences for one or more Xentara licences. The actual Xentara licences, containing the licencing terms, the skill licences etc. are defined in the licencing files installed on the client computer running Xentara. The floating licences served by the licence server only replace the node licences normally used by Xentara.
For each Xentara licence, the licence server will have a limited number of floating licences available. Once all the floating licences have been checked out, no more Xentara instances will be able to obtain licences until another Xentara instance has quit, freeing up a licence.
A single licence server can manage floating licences for multiple diffrerent Xentara licences with different licensing terms. A company may have puchased two types of licences, for example: a large licence with more skills and unlimited data points, and a small licence with fewer skills and a limit on the number of data points. The licence server could then contain 3 large and 20 small licences, for example.
Each floating licence is tied to a particular server licence, and can olny be served by a computer for which there is a valid server node licence available for that particular server licence.
The Xentara licences are installed alongside the server licences and server node licences, and may even be contained in the same file.
